Job summary

Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security, Saint Charles, IL, seeks a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer to lead screening teams and manage daily operations. The role involves supervising officers, coordinating staffing, and ensuring adherence to TSA procedures in fast-moving security environments.

You will supervise operations at checkpoints, review performance, and communicate with airport stakeholders.

Qualifications

At least one year of specialized experience supervising transportation-security operations.
Six months of experience as a work leader, team leader, or supervisor.
May be limited to current permanent or eligible TSA employees; review eligibility in vacancy.

Responsibilities

Supervise Transportation Security Officers and Lead Transportation Security Officers.
Oversee passenger, carry-on baggage, checked baggage, or cargo-screening operations.
Assign work, establish priorities, and coordinate rotations and coverage.
Make security-based decisions using TSA procedures, operational information, and judgment.
Review employee performance and provide coaching and feedback.
Approve leave and address routine employee concerns.
Respond to security incidents, disruptions, and emergencies.
Prepare operational briefings, logs, incident reports, and management communications.
Coordinate with airport stakeholders and TSA leadership when required.
Recommend improvements to screening procedures and staffing plans.
