Job summary

The Transportation Security Administration is seeking Transportation Security Officers to provide security and protection for travelers across transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner.

Duties include screening and safeguarding passengers, participating in ongoing training, and complying with TSA dress and conduct standards. Applicants must meet one of the qualification pathways (experience or education) and should be prepared for periodic travel.

Qualifications

• At least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician.
• High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC equivalency certificate.
• Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek; part-time credit is on a part-time ratio.
• National Service Experience credits qualifying experience including volunteer work.

Responsibilities

• TSOs provide security and protection of travelers across transportation sectors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Occasional travel required for training and duties, with compensation and travel expenses per TSA policy.
• Adherence to dress and appearance standards per the Master CBA and TSA policy.
• Work schedules include full-time 40 hours per week and potential irregular hours, nights, holidays, and weekends.
