Airport Security Agent

Location: LGA, JFK, EWR, TEB and SWF parking lots, aeronautical guard access areas, construction sites, fire watch posts, and other specified areas.

Duties

• Observe and report suspicious activity to the Port Authority Police.
• Protect assigned areas and enforce rules and regulations set forth by the Port Authority.
• Familiarize with all post orders.
• Maintain an efficient post and assist visitors without compromising security services.
• Supervise compliance with identification rules for personnel and vehicles.
• Conduct vehicle inspections as required.
• Immediately report to PAPD when unauthorized individuals attempt or succeed in accessing the Facility without authorization, or when unruled individuals attempt physical altercations with the ASA or any others on Port Authority property.
• Immediately report any fires to PAPD.
• Direct traffic as required.
• Provide construction escort services.
• Conduct periodic inspections of contractor work areas.
• Report unclaimed or unattended property.
• Report unusual circumstances and emergencies to supervisors.
• Screen and log persons and vehicles at restricted areas.
• Report hazardous conditions to appropriate personnel.
• Perform perimeter fence inspections.
• Respond to door alarms, fires, explosions, bomb threats, floods, crowd control and other emergencies.
• Perform fire watch functions.
• Report accidents to PAPD and prepare handwritten reports.
• Maintain a log of activity during each tour.
• Monitor vehicles and personnel in secured areas.
• Use watch‑clock or Electronic Guard Tour Monitoring System.
• Provide after‑notification for vehicle fires.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Relief personnel required.
• Adhere to Port Authority uniform and appearance guidelines.
• Do not use personal cell/wireless phones unless approved.
• Comply with Section of SOW “Tours of Duty” (Section 8).
• In New York State, be a certified guard; in New York City, be certified by FDNY as fire watch and provide required coverage.
