Job summary

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice to begin a structured apprenticeship within the Airports Authority Trades Apprentice Employment Program at MWAA facilities.

You will receive on-the-job training and classroom instruction while learning carpentry, roofing, masonry, and related trades, with the goal of becoming a skilled Facilities Maintenance Mechanic and advancing in the organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Completion of at least one trades course (e.g., Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Automotive) or enrollment in a trades program.

Responsibilities

• Learn to maintain and repair MWAA structures in the trades, from elementary to proficient levels.
• Proficiently use manuals, technical guides, blueprints and diagrams, materials, and hand and power tools.
• Assist full performance level mechanics to transport tools and materials and complete work at the site.
• Perform monthly preventive maintenance and assist in creating work orders.
