Job summary

City of Houston seeks a skilled Electrician to troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade electromechanical systems across HAS facilities, ensuring safe electrical distribution and reliable lighting and equipment operation. You will respond to emergencies, manage wiring and lighting upgrades, and document work via logs and records.

The role requires a Texas Journeyman Electrician License, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Texas driver’s license with CDL as needed.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED with completion of an apprentice program approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training or equivalent
• Texas Journeyman Electrician License is required
• Valid Texas driver’s license; may require CDL and City of Houston driving policy compliance

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, maintains, manages and upgrades existing electromechanical and electronic installations and systems.
• Researches causes of failures; repairs, replaces, and installs equipment and components.
• Provides preventive maintenance ensuring safe operating conditions and updated records/logs.
