Job summary

CMTS LLC is seeking a Civil Inspector – Airport/Aviation to provide field inspection, quality assurance, documentation, and construction oversight for civil improvements at an active airport. You will monitor contractor activities, verify conformance with plans, codes, and safety standards, and coordinate with airport representatives, engineers, and project managers.

Qualifications

5+ years of construction inspection experience, preferably involving civil, heavy civil, transportation, public works, or airport construction.
Airport or aviation construction experience strongly preferred.
Experience inspecting roadways, runways/taxiways, airfield paving, drainage, utilities, or underground infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Perform daily field inspections of civil construction activities within an active airport environment.
Inspect roadway, paving, grading, drainage, utilities, concrete, excavation, underground infrastructure, and related civil work.
Monitor construction activities for compliance with approved plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
Verify contractor workmanship and materials meet project quality requirements.
Observe and document construction progress through daily inspection reports, photographs, field notes, and other project documentation.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, airport operations, and other stakeholders.
Identify deficiencies, non-conforming work, and communicate findings to project management.
Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and approved changes as required.
Verify quantities and completed work for progress and payment documentation.
Monitor safety compliance on site.
Support testing and inspection activities for concrete, asphalt, soils, and other materials.
Participate in project meetings, field walks, punch-list inspections, and final acceptance activities.
Maintain accurate inspection records and comply with airport security requirements.
