Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Field Service Technician in Salt Lake City, UT to install and service nitrogen generation plants and cryogenic gas systems at customer sites.

The role requires travel, safe operating practices, and strong troubleshooting skills, with a comprehensive benefits package and a 4x10 schedule. You will work independently at Airgas plants, performing maintenance and installations to meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Must have valid U.S. work authorization; visa sponsorship not offered.
• Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
• Experience with troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Install and service on-site nitrogen generation plants and bulk gas systems in a safe, code-compliant manner.
• Support installation and upkeep of nitrogen on-site generation equipment.
• Support cryogenic bulk installations at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
• Maintain pressure reduction equipment and diagnostics for N2 systems.
• Evaluate electrical systems and controls for nitrogen generation and cryogenic installations.
• Install decals, signage and hazard identifiers.
• Install piping per SOPs and perform site surveys for codes.
• Maintain security around installations and ensure safety policies.
• Perform periodic preventative maintenance and annual inspections.
• Maintain stock of parts to service customer sites and collaborate on projects.

Responsibilities

• The (Cryogenic) Field Service Technician is responsible for installing and servicing on-site nitrogen generation plants and bulk medical or industrial gas systems in a safe and operationally effective manner, in accordance with all federal, state/provincial and local codes, and Airgas policies.
• Supports the installation and upkeep of nitrogen on-site generation equipment.
• Supports cryogenic bulk installations both at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
• Restores and optimizes pressure reduction equipment associated with bulk delivery systems.
• Evaluates and provides solutions for electrical systems associated with N2 generation and cryogenic installations, including: motor controls and relays, low pressure, high pressure and liquid level alarm systems.
• Installs decals and warning signs for the proper identification of hazards, warnings, ownership, normal operational settings, emergency contacts, etc.
• Performs installation of piping systems in accordance with company SOP's.
• Performs Site Surveys to build alignment with all federal, state/provincial and local codes.
• Fosters a secure environment by providing fencing to protect installations from tampering or unauthorized entry.
• Performs periodic preventative maintenance tasks on N2 generation equipment based on the PM schedule.
• Performs annual inspections of all bulk installation sites to ensure their condition and excellent operation.
• Champions and upholds safety policies and procedures to nurture a secure workplace.
• Maintains an appropriate stock of recommended parts necessary to restore typical installations within the assigned customer base.
• Collaborates on additional projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• You will need a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
• Capability to write routine reports and professional correspondence.
• Experience And Good Skills With Troubleshooting.
• Valid Drivers license is needed.
• Experience with operating a forklift and maintaining the necessary certifications.
• Will need to pass required testing and obtain Medical Certificate and Brazing License.
• Ability to travel with overnight stays
• Experience in the safe operation of both electrical and manual hand tools
• Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed process diagrams for customer sites.
• Professional communication with customers and vendors; must maintain a professional appearance.
• Ability to read and interpret various documents, including MSDS, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and P&ID’s.

• Prior field service technician experience
