Job summary

TRDI in Fort Hood, Texas is seeking a Tractor Operator to maintain grounds and operate industrial tractors with batwing shredders on a large property including airfield areas. Responsibilities include attaching/operating equipment, minor repairs, and routine grounds care.

You must have a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year experience operating industrial tractors; willingness to work weekends/evenings/holidays and to comply with safety and security requirements.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED.
• 1 year relevant work experience operating industrial grade tractors and batwing shredders in a commercial grounds keeping setting.
• Ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly and communicate clearly.
• Ability to manage time effectively and handle both internal and external conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds of industrial, commercial, or public property such as buildings, roadsides, airfields, and athletic fields.
• Minor equipment repairs: cut grass with batwing mowers (over 2000 lbs.), trim hedges and edges around walks and beds.
• Attach and operate tractors with attachments, lubricate and perform minor repairs.
• Operate industrial tractors with batwing shredder attachments within airfield areas.
• Use hedge trimmers, clippers, edging tools to shape shrubs and trees; apply fertilizer/insecticide.
• Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; water lawns during dry periods.
• Use string trimmers and backpack blowers.
• Pass and maintain security clearance and comply with Drug Free Workplace policy.
