Job summary

Amentum seeks a skilled F/A-18 maintenance technician in Virginia Beach area to perform aircraft maintenance duties at various detachments. Must meet licensing requirements and be able to obtain facility credentials and a T3 secret status.

Position requires outdoor work in all weather, ability to read technical manuals, and willingness to travel to detachments as needed. A strong safety mindset and self-motivation are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years' actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 maintenance experience with 3 years prior F/A-18 A-F.
• valid Virginia or NC driver license (if NC resident).
• Completion of Aviation Machinist Mate AD A School, FAA A&P license or equivalent.

Job description

Minimum Requirements:

• Shift work required, detachments are possible.
• Minimum Three (3) years’ actual and recent organizational level F/A-18 aircraft maintenance experience with 3 years prior F/A-18 A-F.
• Must have a valid Virginia or North Carolina Driver license (if North Carolina resident).
• Must have completed military Aviation Machinist Mate, AD, “A” School, FAA A&P License or equivalent.
• Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
• Work is performed primarily outdoors under all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical publications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Should be a self-motivator and work with minimum supervision.
• Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
• There is a great deal of standing, climbing, bending and stooping.
• May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
• Must be able to obtain an approved status from the Contractor Verification system which includes a 7 year background check.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
• Must be able to obtain a T3 Secret Eligible Status.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Ramp Stamp (restricted/unrestricted).
• A/S32A-45 Tow Tractor.
• A/M32A-108; A/M24M-6 power carts.
• MSU-200 (Huffer).
• 65A102-J1 (corrosion cart).
• APU/Low Power Turn Operator.
• Confined Space qualified (entrant / safety observer).

Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $34.86 per hour. Plus $7.80 per hour, up to 40 hours per week, for Health & Welfare.
