Job summary

AAR Corp. is seeking an experienced Aircraft Avionics Technician (UH-1H II) for the WASS program. You will inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics systems installed on aircraft, using hand tools and test equipment, ensuring airworthiness and compliance with FARs.

Responsibilities include calibrating equipment, in-flight adjustments with flight crews, and supervising maintenance activities while training Host Nation personnel as needed. A US security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2-year electronics-avionics technical schooling or equivalent military experience.
• FFCC license with Element 3 or FAA A&P license.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in aircraft installation, inspection, maintenance and repair.
• Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, specifications, service manuals, sketches and other incomplete data.
• CMF 15 aviation MOS or equivalent.
• U.S. Department of State security clearance.
• UH-1H II experience.
• OCONUS: Level 2 Spanish.
• Preferred: FCC Radiotelephone license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect avionics components for defects and accuracy of assembly.
• Test avionics under simulated or actual operating conditions using test equipment.
• Repair or replace defective components based on test results.
• Calibrate installed or repaired equipment to specifications.
• Assist flight crew with in-flight adjustments and post-flight repairs.
• Comply with applicable FAR maintenance inspections (e.g., 91.411/91.413).
• Operate ground station for air-to-station checks of radar/equipment.
• Fabricate wiring harnesses; support avionics upgrades/modifications.
• Provide supervision as required and training for Host Nation technicians.
• Support development of Host Nation training programs and OJT modules.
• Ensure compliance with technical data per Army/DoS/USAF orders.

The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:

Responsible for inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment, such as radar, radio, pulse, navigation, auto pilot and compass systems, installed in aircraft, using hand tools and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect components of avionics equipment for defects, such as loose connections and frayed wire, and for accuracy of assembly and installation.
• Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness, using test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, digital meters and counters, and circuit analyzers.
• Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results, following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents, using hand tools.
• Calibrates installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
• Accompany flight crew to perform in-flight adjustments and to determine and record required post-flight repair work.
• Complies with FAR required maintenance such as 91.411 and 91.413 inspections.
• Operate ground station for air-to-station check of radar or other equipment.
• Fabricate wiring harnesses. - Complies with Avionics upgrades and modifications.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies and applicable laws.
• Provide Host Nation training and oversight of avionics mechanics in support of performing maintenance on aircraft and their associated engines and sub-systems to ensure airworthiness.
• Provide oversight and training for maintenance contractors if required.
• Assist with the development of a HN mechanic training program and the creation of targeted On the Job, OJT, training modules to address capability deficiencies when identified.
• Comply with technical data as outlined in US army Manual 95-1 and DA-DOS PAM 738-750-751 or U.S. Air Force Technical Order and DoS supplements and SOPs.

• Graduate of a 2 year electronics-avionics technical school or equivalent military experience.
• FFCC License w with Element 3 or FAA A and P License.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in aircraft installation, inspection, maintenance and repair required.
• Must have experience with working from blueprint drawings, diagram, specifications, service manuals, sketches, templates and other incomplete data.
• CMF 15 aviation MOS series or another military-commercial equivalent.
• Position requires a U.S. Department of State Security clearance.
• UH-1H II experience

OCONUS:

• Ability to pass physical.
• Level 2 Spanish.

Preferred:

• Current Radiotelephone License issued by the Federal Communications Commission, FCC.
