Job Description

This role focuses on performing line and overnight hangar maintenance on Boeing Dreamlifter (747‑400) aircraft at the Charleston (CHS) airport within a Boeing facility. You will support a busy air cargo operation, carrying out routine and non‑routine maintenance tasks and receiving basic inspection training as part of your development. The position starts as a contract role with a strong opportunity to transition to a permanent hire after six months.

Responsibilities
  • Perform line maintenance on Boeing Dreamlifter (747‑400) and other Boeing aircraft models as required, ensuring safe and efficient turnaround of air cargo operations.
  • Carry out overnight hangar maintenance activities, including scheduled and unscheduled inspections, repairs, and component replacements.
  • Conduct basic aircraft inspections under guidance and training, following all applicable maintenance manuals, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot airframe and powerplant issues on Boeing aircraft such as 747, 737, 777, and 787, and coordinate corrective actions to return aircraft to service.
  • Use appropriate tools, equipment, and technical documentation to perform maintenance tasks accurately and safely.
  • Complete all required maintenance records, work cards, and documentation clearly and in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and station personnel to support efficient operations at a growing maintenance station.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, facility rules, and quality standards while working in line and hangar environments.
  • Maintain readiness to work various shifts, including day and night schedules, and support a 4‑on/3‑off rotation.
  • Obtain and maintain a Boeing facility badge and comply with all security and access requirements.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Boeing badge for work within the Boeing facility.
  • Holding an Airframe (A) license is required for this role.
  • Experience performing aircraft maintenance on Boeing models, with preference for Boeing 747, 737, 777, and 787 platforms.
  • Experience in airframe and powerplant work, with familiarity in powerplant mechanic duties.
  • Capability to perform line maintenance and hangar maintenance in an active air cargo environment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including day and night shifts and a 4‑on/3‑off rotation.
  • Ability to follow detailed maintenance procedures, technical manuals, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong attention to safety, quality, and documentation accuracy in all maintenance activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is strongly preferred and considered a plus.
  • Experience with regional aircraft maintenance is welcomed in addition to Boeing model experience.
  • Mid‑level aircraft maintenance experience is acceptable; technicians with demonstrated hands‑on experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced air cargo maintenance environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a station team that is expanding its maintenance capacity.
  • Willingness to participate in basic inspection training and continue developing technical skills over time.
Why Work Here?

You will join a growing operation in a stable air cargo industry, with the opportunity to transition from contract to permanent employment after six months. The station is expanding and offers consistent work, development through inspection training, and a structured 4‑on/3‑off schedule that supports work‑life balance. Technicians benefit from a per diem for seven days, and the environment provides exposure to a variety of Boeing aircraft and opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic maintenance setting.

Work Environment

The role is based at Charleston International Airport (CHS) within a Boeing facility, working in both line maintenance and hangar maintenance settings. The station has been operating since late 2021 and is growing from a 19‑person team to approximately 27–29 mechanics, reflecting increased workload and long‑term stability. You will work around large cargo aircraft, including Boeing Dreamlifter (747‑400) and other Boeing models, using standard aircraft maintenance tools and equipment. The schedule follows a 4‑on/3‑off rotation, with one day shift from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and two night shifts from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., and you must be open to working any day of the week.
