Garmin is seeking a full-time Aircraft Systems Intern at its U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area.

Responsibilities

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Aircraft Systems Intern at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the electrical installation design of Garmin integrated avionics systems such as G5000 on General Aviation and Business Aviation aircraft by assisting in the development of wiring diagrams, wire harness drawings or other technical data needed to define the electrical aspects of the installation.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the preparation and verification of new installation documentation
  • Assist in the generation of certification ground and bench test plans
  • Assist in creation of certification test reports and other compliance data for submissions to the FAA
  • Accept and complete projects and other miscellaneous aircraft engineering duties as assignedAssist in electrical installation of Garmin integrated avionics system
  • Assist in the development of wiring diagrams, wire harness drawings, or other technical data needed to define the electrical aspects of the installation or to support other STC projects
  • Assist installation technicians in troubleshooting installation wiring interconnects
Basic Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related degree
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Must possess proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Must be detail-oriented and work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
Desired Qualifications
  • Outstanding academics (composite GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Knowledge of aircraft wiring diagrams, wiring routing drawings and the content required on those drawings for FAA certification
  • Understanding of commercial avionics interface standards and their installation
  • Previous work or internship experience in design and certification of avionics systems installations
