Job summary

Tyonek Native Corporation is seeking qualified sheet metal personnel to support KC-135 aircraft maintenance. Based at Fairchild AFB, WA, this role requires CONUS/OCONUS travel to support operations across the U.S. and overseas.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience in structural repairs, modifications, fabrication, and corrosion repair with the highest safety standards. Responsibilities include documenting activities, inspecting tasks, and fabricating sheet metal components.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4–6 years of sheet metal/structural repairs experience, preferably KC-135.
  • Formal airframe repair training preferred.
  • FCC license or FAA A&P license desired but not required.
  • Ability to read/mechanically interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Performs documentation of maintenance, modification, and repair activities.
  • Conducts routine and special inspections and troubleshooting.
  • Complies with safety and quality policies to ensure program success.
  • Performs aircraft structural repairs and modifications.
  • Fabricates, installs, and repairs aircraft sheet metal components.
  • Repairs skins, frames, stringers, bulkheads, and structural assemblies.
  • Performs corrosion removal and structural repairs.
  • Reads engineering drawings, blueprints, TOs, and manuals.
  • Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position is contingent on contract award.

General Description

Sheet metal personnel support KC-135 aircraft maintenance operations. This position is based at Fairchild AFB, WA and requires CONUS/OCONUS travel to support maintenance operations throughout the United States and overseas. Ideal candidates have extensive experience performing aircraft structural repairs, modifications, fabrication, and corrosion repair while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Duties
  • Performs documentation of maintenance, modification, and repair activities.
  • Perform and conduct routine inspections, special inspections, and troubleshooting; as well as inspect the same tasks of other technicians as required by regulations.
  • Comply with both host facility safety and quality regulations/requirements as well as all applicable Tyonek quality and safety policies to ensure program success.
  • Perform aircraft structural repairs and modifications.
  • Fabricate, install, and repair aircraft sheet metal components.
  • Repair aircraft skins, frames, stringers, bulkheads, and structural assemblies.
  • Perform corrosion removal and structural repairs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Technical Orders, and structural repair manuals.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4 - 6 years on-the-job experience in any sheet metal/structural repairs/modification aircraft-related discipline, preferably KC-135.
  • Formal airframe repair training from a technical trade or military technical school is preferred
  • A Federal Communication Commission (FCC) License or an Airframe and Powerplant License issued by the FAA with commensurate General or Military Aviation experience is desired but not required.
  • Must possess the ability and equivalent experience to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS travel.
  • Experience operating ground support equipment
  • Knowledge of using specialized equipment, tools, and test equipment in accordance with appropriate USAF Technical Orders and Job Guides preferred
  • Must have a valid state driver's license when required by job assignment
  • Must have or be able to obtain a secret security clearance
  • Must be able to work, day shift, night shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, or adjusted schedules as required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
