Qualifications

• Active or former professional pilot with substantial real-world flight operations experience.
• Fluent English with ability to interpret and communicate ATC instructions clearly.
• Experience operating internationally and understanding diverse accents and regions.
• Exceptional attention to detail; able to follow transcription and annotation protocols.
• Comfort using digital tools, reference materials, and high-quality audio equipment remotely.
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace.
• Prior experience with data annotation, transcription, or similar projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Listen to authentic ATC radio transmissions and transcribe audio following project guidelines.
• Extract and document key flight instructions, including headings, altitudes, and radio frequencies.
• Reference airport diagrams, navigational charts, and aircraft positioning data to ensure precise transcription.
• Apply aviation experience to interpret diverse communication styles and contexts in real-world ATC.
• Meet a rigorous transcription accuracy standard, targeting 2% word error rate or better.
• Contribute feedback to improve guidelines, processes, and AI understanding of ATC communications.

In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

• Listen to authentic air traffic control (ATC) radio transmissions and accurately transcribe audio following detailed project guidelines
• Extract and document key flight instructions, including headings, altitudes, and radio frequencies
• Reference supporting materials such as airport diagrams, navigational charts, and aircraft positioning data to ensure precise transcription and annotation
• Apply aviation experience to interpret diverse communication styles, accents, and operational contexts commonly encountered in real-world ATC
• Meet a rigorous standard for transcription accuracy, targeting a 2% word error rate or better
• Contribute feedback for ongoing improvements to guidelines, processes, and AI understanding of ATC communications
