Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace in St. Louis seeks an Aircraft Painter I to prepare aircraft for paint, apply finishes, and maintain painting equipment. You will read blueprints, mix paints, and perform sealant work while following safety rules and 5S practices.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and about 1 year of painting experience. A first-shift schedule, full-time employment, and comprehensive benefits are provided in a supportive shop environment.

  • Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; wear PPE.
  • Care for shop equipment and comply with paint shop standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Must pass Pulmonary Function Test for respirator certification.

Aircraft Painter Iin GAC St. Louis

Unique Skills:

Must be able to work from scissor lift and must be able to wear fall restraint.

The compensation range for this role is $22.00 - $28.87 per hour.

Final compensation for this role will be determined by several factors including but not limited to: minimum and preferred qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, and location.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year of painting experience. Position Purpose:The Aircraft Painter I prepares the aircraft for paint related operations by performing tasks safely within schedule while meeting quality expectations.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions:

  1. Mask, sand, and prepare aircraft for paint application.
  2. Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting.
  3. Operate and maintain all types of preparation and priming equipment. Mix paints and primers. .
  4. Perform leading edge sealant work in final detail. .
  5. Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Use personal protective equipment and ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).

Additional Functions:

  1. Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned. .
  2. Comply with Paint shop standard practices. .

Perform other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  2. Able to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
  3. Ability to use tools, equipment, and materials in the aircraft painting process. Able to climb ladders and stairs, perform close tolerance work, work in small spaces lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
  4. Must be computer literate.
  5. A working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics).

This job requires one to be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
