Job summary

Sunvair, Inc., located in Valencia, CA, is a leading FAA- and EASA-certified aerospace MRO specializing in landing gear overhaul and repair. We are seeking a Painter who will safely prepare, paint, and detail aircraft components per work orders, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and quality specifications.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of related experience, be able to read blueprints and specifications, and perform coating thickness measurements.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Detail oriented with excellent time management skills.
• Capable of lifting at least 25 lb.
• Experience with industry standards, primer and customer paint specifications.
• Ability to read work orders, specifications, sketches and blueprints.
• Ability to measure coating thicknesses.
• 3–5 years of related experience in paint/finishing procedures.
• Experience in FAA-certified landing gear repair environments.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft components per work order/traveler instructions.
• Mask, sand, and prepare components for paint application.
• Mix primers and paints per manufacturer instructions.
• Apply primers, fillers, and sealing compounds for final painting prep.
• Perform quality validations such as viscosity, adhesion, and thickness checks.
• Operate spray guns and apply topcoat to components.
• Coordinate with supervisor and inspection for paperwork signoffs and quality specs.
• Inspect painted surfaces for defects per aviation regulations and standards.
• Follow SOPs for sealants and corrosion-preventive chemicals and use PPE as required.
• Adhere to OSHA/EPA/SCAQMD regulations and clean-room protocols; meet target hours.
