Position: Aircraft Primary Structures Mechanical Design Engineer (NX)
9/80 schedule - every other Friday off
An employer in Waco, TX area is seeking multiple Aircraft Primary Structures Mechanical Design Engineers to support a large-scale aircraft modification program on a Bombardier Global 6500 platform. Unlike traditional component-focused design roles, this position offers the opportunity to work on aircraft-wide modifications affecting nearly every major area of the airframe. This role will focus on designing primary and secondary aircraft structures supporting the integration of large radar systems, communication systems, mission equipment, antennas, radomes, fairings, cooling systems, and other aircraft modifications.
Engineers will be responsible for developing structural solutions that react and distribute loads from both internal and external mission payloads, including large radar arrays and associated aircraft modifications while maintaining strict weight, performance, and airworthiness requirements.
In this role, you and your team will be responsible for developing and releasing detail, assembly, and installation drawings using Siemens NX while supporting structural reinforcements to aircraft frames, bulkheads, skins, stringers, and longerons. This position requires ownership of designs from initial concept through manufacturing, installation, and aircraft support, while collaborating closely with Stress Analysis, Systems Engineering, Weight & Balance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Installation teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong aircraft structural design experience, an understanding of aircraft load paths, and the ability to mentor junior engineers on a highly visible, weight-critical program.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
