Job summary

M1 Support Services is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic (SAM-UPT-0274) at Sheppard AFB, TX. The role requires maintenance, troubleshooting, and component installation using technical data and directives, with emphasis on safety and FOD prevention.

Responsibilities include engine removal/install, servicing, grounding support equipment, and maintaining accurate records to meet USAF and company standards. Union status is Yes; relocation is No; travel may be possible.

Qualifications

• A working knowledge of jet aircraft systems and use of common aircraft hand tools is required.
• Completion of high school or the equivalent is required. Specialized courses desired.
• Ability to read and write and to comprehend technical data.

Job Summary:

M1 Support Services' Aircraft Mechanic performs aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, and component removal/installation using technical data, schematics, and applicable directives. Conducts inspections, servicing, and engine removal/installation while ensuring compliance with safety, FOD prevention, tool control, and environmental programs. Operates ground support equipment, supports aircraft movement, and maintains accurate maintenance documentation to meet USAF and company requirements.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Uses schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publication in operating, testing removing, troubleshooting and replacing aircraft system components to include remove and install engines as required.
• Complies with the requirements of the FOD prevention, housekeeping, tool control, environmental and safety programs.
• Performs aircraft conditional inspections.
• Performs all required aircraft servicing tasks.
• Operates ground support equipment and documents/reports discrepancies prior to use.
• Performs all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
• Completes all necessary manual and automated records required by USAF and Company directives.
• Orders parts and supplies as needed.
• Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Participates in towing and movement of aircraft in performing maintenance activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A working knowledge of jet aircraft systems and of the use of common aircraft hand tools and special tools is required. A working knowledge of aircraft maintenance safety requirements and the operation of portable fire- fighting equipment are required.
• Completion of high school or the equivalent is required. Completion of specialized courses is desired.
• The ability to read and write and to comprehend technical data is required.
• Eighteen (18) months of general aircraft maintenance experience is required. One (1) year experience in the past three (3) calendar years' on applicable aircraft or completion of a specific aircraft familiarization course is required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary to obtain flight line driving privileges

Working Conditions:

• Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be physically capable of performing all assigned duties.
• Normal color vision is required.
• A physical is required for personnel working in fuel cell maintenance. Must be able to enter the smallest cell opening, must be able to become qualified for and use a respirator.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
