Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Aircraft Structural Repair Technician in Maryland's Andrews area to inspect, repair, and overhaul aircraft and support equipment. You will apply corrosion control, work with maintenance data, and coordinate with supervisors to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires FAA Airframe license, three years of relevant structural experience, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, evaluates damage, and repairs on assigned and transient aircraft and support equipment.
• Operates ground support equipment and uses tools to return aircraft to operation.
• Evaluates, designs, and manufactures logistics improvement projects.
• Researches data and manufactures components and assemblies.
• Uses maintenance instructions and technical data for inspection and repair.
• Performs advanced aircraft composite repairs and related work.
• Uses drawings and blueprints to accomplish repairs.
• Performs corrosion inspections and treatments.
• Assesses paint requirements and applies protective coatings.
• Maintains aircraft structural integrity during shop and flight line work.
• Coordinates maintenance with Supervisors and MCC.
• Documents discrepancies and inputs data into the Maintenance Information System.
• Ensures compliance with safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD programs.
• Willing to work day, swing, night, and weekend shifts as required.
• Receives CUT training, and travels as needed (TDYs).
• Maintains training requirements and performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Inspects, evaluates damage, and accomplishes repairs on assigned and transient aircraft and support Equipment.

• Operates all associated ground support equipment and uses hand tools, special tools, fixtures and adhesives applicable to return aircraft to operational condition.

• Evaluates, designs, and manufactures logistics improvement projects.

• Research technical data and manufactures structural components, cables, and tubing assemblies.

• Uses maintenance instructions and technical data in the inspection, and repair of assigned aircraft and associated equipment.

• Performs on and off equipment maintenance to do advanced aircraft composite repairs.

• Uses maintenance drawings and blueprints to accomplish repairs on assigned equipment.

• Performs aircraft and equipment corrosion inspections.

• Evaluates aircraft and equipment for paintrequirements.

• Removes and treats corrosion and applies protective coatings on aircraft and support equipment.

• Performs shop and flight line maintenance ensuring aircraft structural integrity.

• Coordinates maintenance efforts with Production Supervisors and Maintenance Operations Coordination Center.

• Documents discrepancies in applicable forms and inputs data in MaintenanceInformation System.

• Ensures compliance with applicable safety, housekeeping, tool control, and FOD prevention programs.

• Must be able to work, day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shifts as required.

• Receives CUT training within classification.

• Shall perform other duties as assigned and must be able to travel to include TDYs.

• Must maintain training requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have a working knowledge of aircraft structural repair procedures.

• Working knowledge of corrosion control techniques and base, federal, and company procedures for handling and Disposal of hazardous waste materials is required.

• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

• The ability to read and interpret data is required.

• Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair is required.

• Must meet physical requirements, occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. is required.

• An Occupational Physical is required.

• A minimum of three years recent structural experience is desired.

• An FAA Airframe license is required.

• High School Education or GED equivalent.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government flight line driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Respirator Training, Fuel Systems Confined Space Entry Training and CPR training is preferred.
