Job description

Aircraft Mechanic II (Airframes) (Finance)

Job Location: Iwakuni, Japan

Overview: Aircraft Mechanic II (Airframes) is responsible for repairing engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty to meet mission requirements. They provide input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD), and assist in recommending changes to Maintenance Work Orders (MWO). They must prioritize workloads, lead teams on complex tasks, and inspect other mechanics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical parts.
  2. Interpret technical documentation such as blueprints and manuals to troubleshoot and restore equipment.
  3. Work knowledge of aircraft tools and technical publications.
  4. Potentially lead teams and make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  5. Specialize in areas such as sheet-metal, electric work, or avionics.
  6. Serve as a Marine Corps Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative.

Additional Skills for Corrosion Control Personnel:

  • Respirator fit qualified
  • Certification in Aircraft Corrosion Control and Paint Touch Up and Markings
  • Aircraft tow qualifications or equivalent
  • Experience with aircraft airframes maintenance

Function and Qualifications: Qualified as Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representatives (CDQAR), responsible for maintenance in work centers 120 (Airframes). Must troubleshoot malfunctions, perform organizational level maintenance, and possess expertise in relevant aircraft systems.

Responsibilities: Perform diagnosis, repairs, and modifications per procedures; verify work; support aircraft maintenance activities, including corrosion prevention, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of organizational level maintenance experience
  • 5+ years on KC-130J aircraft
  • Familiarity with NALCOMIS OOMA and naval aviation maintenance courses
  • Certifications such as Safe For Flight, Vibration Analysis, Tire and Wheel, Hydraulic Contamination, APU operations, and aircraft tow qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years aircraft maintenance experience in airframes
  • Previous CDQAR for Airframes Systems
  • Certifications in Aircraft Corrosion Control and Paint Touch Up
  • Eligibility for a CAC and deployable outside U.S.
