Job summary

Textron Systems’ ATAC unit seeks an experienced Aircraft Mechanic I to perform maintenance on airborne aircraft and support launch/recovery on flight lines at permanent and detachment sites.

The role involves inert ordnance loading, arming and downloading, plus training of maintenance personnel and program management duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirements include an A&P certification and/or at least 8 years military equivalency experience with capability for supervisory/detachment lead roles.
  • Experienced and competent in supervising and inspecting complex maintenance actions.
  • Proven leadership with ability to enforce GOPs and safety practices.
  • Performance monitored by supervision and reviewed annually.
  • Must pass medical exam to handle ammunition and explosives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance actions in support of company commitments.
  • Proficient in one aircraft type/model and assist on others.
  • Train maintenance personnel.
  • Manage assigned maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate detachment requirements with Crew Chiefs as needed.
  • Obtain and maintain Detachment Lead qualification.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls.
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures and components including rigging and surface controls.
  • Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic inspections and other hourly/calendar inspections.
  • Adjust, repair or replace electrical wiring and accessories; conduct preflight through post-flight inspections.
  • Interpret blueprints or manuals to solve problems.
  • Prioritize workload to meet schedules.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor and Crew Chiefs.
  • Manage programs as assigned.

About ATACTextron Systems - ATAC provides tactical flight training and adversary aggressor services for U.S. Navy, Marine and Air Force pilots.

Summary

The Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for maintenance actions on Airborne Tactical Advantage Company’s aircraft as well as safe and expeditious launch and recovery flight line operations at permanent and detachment sites. The Aircraft Mechanic will also participate in inert ordnance loading, arming and downloading on ATAC’s aircraft.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintenance efforts in support of company commitments
  • Proficient in one type/model aircraft and helper on additional type/model aircraft
  • Training of maintenance personnel
  • Manage assigned maintenance programs
  • Assist with coordination of detachment requirements with Crew Chiefs (as necessary)
  • Obtain and maintain Detachment Lead qualification
  • The Aircraft Mechanic troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls
  • This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls
  • This mechanic performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections
  • This mechanic: adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures’ manuals
  • Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Additional responsibilities as delineated by Production Supervisor and Crew Chiefs
  • Manage programs as assigned
Primary Objectives:
  • Safety of the workforce.
  • Ensure quality maintenance is performed during each maintenance action.
  • Development and training of Apprentice Aviation Mechanics.
  • Foster maintenance team environment.
  • Lead by example.
QualificationsQualifications
  • Minimum requirements of this position include, but are not limited to, an A&P certification and/or at least 8 years military equivalency experience and capable of performing in a supervisory, detachment lead and/or team lead role.
  • Must be experienced and competent in the supervision and inspection of complex maintenance actions.
  • Must have proven effective leadership experience and adept at enforcing GOP’s and safety practices.
  • Performance will be continuously monitored by supervision and reviewed annually with the employee.
  • Must be able to pass a medical examination to handle ammunition and explosives.
ADA Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to climb in and out of the Aircraft.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
