Job summary

Amentum is seeking a 2nd Shift Aircraft Mechanic II to perform maintenance and repairs on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including airframe, powerplant, hydraulics, fuel, and electrical systems.

The role requires FAA A&P license, valid driver’s license, ability to read manuals, and occasional travel; strong adherence to safety and quality standards is essential.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship required for the clearance.
  • High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.
  • Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic License with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and aircraft systems to include airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, reading and interpretation of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and FAA, Company, and other Directives.
  • Must be reliable and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.
  • The ability to comprehend/interpret technical data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, flight line and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and isolate faults in aircraft systems.
  • Lead teams through complex aircraft-related tasks on occasion.
  • Enter maintenance data into aircraft logs and records.
  • Prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects.
  • Travel periodically to support customers’ mission.

Job description

The 2nd Shift Aircraft Mechanic II maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipmentcondition and or operation and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals.

  • Perform daily, flight line and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.

  • Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.

  • Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by Customs).

  • May occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.

  • May be requiredto make entries in aircraft logs and records.

  • Must be able to prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects.

  • Periodically required to travel in support of customers’ mission.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

  • Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.

  • Ability to move freely about the interior and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.

  • Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.

  • May be required to wear a respirator

  • Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.

Compensation Details:

Hourly Rate: $47.67
