Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic to perform maintenance, overhaul, repair and servicing on assigned aircraft in compliance with applicable instructions. The role requires handling inspections, troubleshooting and system repairs to fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

The position entails potential travel to temporary duty sites, use of personal tools with tools provided by the customer, and possible in-flight checks.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.
  • Must be able to obtain CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings required.
  • Competent in repair/maintenance of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and systems.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, manuals and directives.
  • Must be reliable with good judgment.
  • Able to follow base, federal and company hazardous waste procedures.
  • Must read/write/understand English and follow instructions.
  • Ability to interpret technical data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft per 14 CFR and DoD regulations.
  • Conduct daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
  • Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
  • May fly on Government aircraft for relocation or in-flight checks when ground testing isn’t possible.
  • May travel to temporary duty sites within/beyond the United States.
  • Furnish own hand tools; customer provides special tools and test equipment.
  • Other duties as required to support mission.
  • Periodically travel to support customers’ mission.

Job description

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, and aircraft servicing functions on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment and in accordance with applicable instructions.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, technical manuals, and other data as applicable.
  • Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
  • Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
  • May be required to fly on Government aircraft for relocation, to conduct in-flight checks (test flights) and to conduct trouble shooting that cannot be completed on the ground.
  • May be required to perform official travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States.
  • Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by the customer).
  • May be required to perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.
  • Periodically required to travel in support of customers’ mission.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship required to obtain clearance.
  • High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.
  • Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and aircraft systems to include airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, reading and interpretation of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and FAA, Company, and other Directives.
  • Must be reliable and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.
  • The ability to comprehend/interpret technical data.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.
  • Ability to move freely about the interior and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.
  • Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to wear a respirator.
  • Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer at least two years of experience working rotary-wing aircraft.
  • UH-60 Blackhawk experience highly desired.

Compensation Details
