Job summary

Amentum is seeking a CBP Aircraft Mechanic to maintain and repair aircraft structures and systems, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and fuel systems. Tasks include troubleshooting, login of maintenance records, and adherence to safety protocols.

Ideal candidates hold an A&P certificate and a High School Diploma, with experience using test equipment and MS Office. Travel may be required. This is an SCA hourly position with health and welfare benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold a current airframe and power plant mechanic (A&P) certificate.
• Competent in repair/maintenance of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and engines.
• Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
• Working knowledge of aircraft logbooks and technical publications.

Responsibilities

• Apply technical knowledge to determine equipment malfunctions and restore operation using manuals.
• Perform daily, flight line and hangar maintenance on assigned aircraft.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and isolate faults in aircraft systems.
• Lead teams on complex aircraft tasks as needed.
• Occasionally enter data into aircraft logs and records.

Job description

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipmentcondition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures’ manuals.
• Perform daily, flight line and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.
• Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
• Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by Customs).
• May occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
• May be requiredto make entries in aircraft logs and records.
• Must be able to prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects.
• Periodically required to travel in support of customers’ mission.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must hold a current airframe and power plant mechanic (A&P) certificate.
• Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and aircraft engines.
• Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair.
• Must possess a working knowledge of military and general aviation aircraft airframe and engine logbooks.
• Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
• Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, mircormeters, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
• Requires working knowledge of technical publications.
• Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
• Must be proficient in Office software applications to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.; especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• The ability to read and write and comprehend/interpret data.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

• Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.
• Ability to move freely about the interior and in the unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.
• Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.
• Pull, push, lift up to 50 lbs.
• On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer 3-5 years of experience working full-time as an aircraft mechanic.
• Prefer FAA Inspection Authorization

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending on the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

Compensation Details:

Hourly Rate: $37.96 plus hardship pay
