Job summary

Amentum is seeking a CBP Aircraft Mechanic to perform maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection and servicing on assigned aircraft in an operations environment under 14 CFR/DoD guidelines. You will work to ensure airworthiness and compliance while supporting mission readiness.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, daily and turnaround inspections, troubleshooting, and possible in-flight checks or travel to temporary duty sites as required.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  • Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.
  • Must be able to obtain CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • FAA Mechanic License with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
  • Competent in repair and maintenance of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and engines.
  • Able to read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • Follow procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, repair and modify aircraft per 14 CFR and DoD data.
  • Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot and isolate faults in aircraft systems and corrosion control.
  • May perform in-flight checks and relocation flights as needed.
  • May travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States.
  • Furnish own hand tools; test equipment provided by employer.
  • Perform other duties to support the mission.

Job description

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection and aircraft servicing functions on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment and in accordance with applicable instructions.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, technical manuals, and other data as applicable.

  • Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft

  • Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.

  • May be required to fly on Government aircraft for relocation, to conduct in-flight checks (test flights) and to conduct trouble shooting that cannot be completed on the ground.

  • May be required to perform official travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States.

  • Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools
    and test equipment will be furnished by Customs).

  • May be required to perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.

  • Periodically required to travel in support of customers’ mission.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.

  • Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation SuitabilityClearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance.

  • High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.

  • Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic License with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.

  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems, and aircraft engines.

  • Must be reliable and demonstrate good judgment.

  • Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.

  • Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.

  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.

  • The ability to comprehend/interpret technical data.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
  • Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.

  • Ability to move freely about the interior and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.

  • Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.

  • May be required to wear a respirator.

  • Pull, push, lift up to 50 lbs.

  • On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring Hourly Rate: $53.60
