Job description

Job Overview

TSC's Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Division is recruiting an Aviation Maintenance Technician to support Flight & Ground Operations of a developmental aircraft. The candidate will conduct maintenance, inspections, and repairs on manned and unmanned aircraft to keep them mission‑ready.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on aircraft airframes, engines, avionics, line‑replaceable units, and other system components.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective or malfunctioning parts and systems.
  • Support development and testing phases of new technologies and configurations.
  • Conduct inspections in compliance with regulatory requirements and company safety standards.
  • Assist assembly and disassembly of aircraft for flight tests, demonstrations, and operational missions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for all aircraft.
  • Collaborate with engineering to address technical issues and implement solutions throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working condition and meet safety standards.
  • Support operational personnel during pre‑flight and post‑flight procedures.
  • Maintain digital and paper logbooks, FOD and tool control, technical orders, part accounting, and other required records.
  • Execute work calendars, support internal audits, and participate in performance reviews.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and briefings for the ADO and engineering/production teams.
  • Track consumables, record maintenance failures, and monitor parts and tool inventories.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • In‑depth understanding of aircraft airframe, powerplant, electrical, mechanical, and RF systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA flight and maintenance standards, DCMA procedures, and compliance reporting.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance manuals, technical orders, and compliance procedures.
  • Knowledge of FOD control and safety program adherence.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and collaborate with others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, technical writing, and digital maintenance resources.
Required Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification with at least 7 years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of UAS maintenance experience (group 3‑5).
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, including use of multimeter and oscilloscope.
  • Leadership experience in an aviation maintenance role.
  • Experience with developmental or experimental aircraft (plus).
  • Knowledge of aircraft technical manuals (general systems, job guides, fault isolation).
  • Active SECRET security clearance.
  • FAA Class 3 medical certificate.
  • Willingness to travel and work in austere field locations.
Physical & Medical Requirements

Work may involve outdoor shifts up to 12 hours in temperatures above 100°F, lifting up to 50lbs, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Candidates must have adequate vision and hearing, possess a Class3 medical, and meet additional MOD15 physical and psychological standards.

Security & Clearance

Active SECRET DoD security clearance required; ability to obtain CREWChief Instructor designation after 6 months.

Travel

Regular travel to various test sites; less than 25% travel required; ability to deploy on short notice.
