Wayne-Sanderson is seeking a Tech II, Aircraft Maintenance to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure airworthiness of the company fleet.

The role requires strong knowledge of FAA regulations, the ability to read schematics and manuals, and the capacity to train less experienced technicians. This on-site position in Georgia offers opportunities to contribute to maintenance process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four (4) years of aircraft maintenance experience.
  • FAA A&P certification required.
  • Experience in MRO, airline, charter or corporate aviation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.

Job Summary

The Tech II, Aircraft Maintenance is responsible for independently performing scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of the company aircraft fleet. This fully proficient technical role applies comprehensive knowledge of company aircraft systems and department operations to diagnose and resolve complex maintenance issues within established procedures. The position provides technical assistance and training to less experienced technicians and contributes to maintenance and process improvements while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Aircraft Maintenance & Repair

  • Independently perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, inspections, functional tests, component replacements, and repairs in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications.
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of company aircraft systems and department operations to independently complete assigned maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex aircraft maintenance issues, with ability to determine when to escalation the most complex, unusual, or highly integrated system problems to Senior Technicians or other appropriate technical resources.
  • Conduct required aircraft inspections and determine appropriate maintenance actions within established procedures.
  • Ensure completed work meets manufacturer, regulatory, and company specifications
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
  • Independently troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, avionics, and other aircraft systems using appropriate diagnostic methods and equipment.
  • Select and use appropriate diagnostic tools, technical manuals, schematics, and other technical resources based on the maintenance issue.
  • Analyze aircraft system failures and determine appropriate corrective actions within established maintenance procedures.
  • Work directly with engineering, manufacturers, and other technical resources as needed to resolve aircraft maintenance issues.
  • Recognize complex or unusual system interactions requiring escalation to a Senior Technician or other specialized resource
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
  • Adhere to all aviation maintenance safety protocols and applicable FAA regulations, including FAA Parts 65, 43, and 91 requirements.
  • Independently complete all required FAA maintenance documentation, aircraft log entries, inspection records, and corrective-action documentation.
  • Ensure maintenance records accurately document discrepancies, corrective actions, component replacements, inspections, and return-to-service activities within the authority of the position.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance programs to maintain high safety and compliance standards.
Training & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide technical assistance and training to less experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians as required.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance procedures, tools, workflows, and operating practices.
  • Lead or actively participate in maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives within assigned areas.
  • Continue aircraft-specific and OEM technical training to expand proficiency across the company fleet.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
Experience
  • Minimum Four (4) years of aircraft maintenance experience
  • Experience independently troubleshooting and repairing aircraft systems required.
  • Experience in an MRO, airline, charter, corporate aviation, or similar aircraft maintenance environment
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance operations.
  • Strong understanding of engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, avionics, and related aircraft systems.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and applicable aviation authority requirements.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret aircraft blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and technical instructions.
  • Ability to select and effectively use appropriate diagnostic tools and methods.
  • Ability to independently diagnose complex aircraft maintenance issues and determine corrective actions within established procedures.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and training to less experienced technicians.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to aircraft maintenance needs outside of regularly scheduled work hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require
  • Ability to travel as required
Supervisor Responsibilities
  • None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required); college coursework or technical education in Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Technology, or a related discipline preferred
  • Required Certifications: FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification and the ability to succefully complete OEM General Familiarization training applicable to the company aircraft fleet required within a year; additional aircraft-specific OEM training preferred
  • Aircraft systems training, Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement training and/ or Leadership training a plus.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to typical risks of injury in an aviation (e.g. hangar, outside, office) environment.
  • Duties include a typical mechanic setting including extensive hands on work, including sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling or standing.
