Job summary

Sun Country Airlines is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician in Dallas, TX. The role focuses on keeping the Sun Country fleet airworthy, troubleshooting and repairing aircraft to Sun Country standards, and ensuring all maintenance paperwork and TRAX entries are completed accurately.

You will work with a team in a maintenance hangar/ramp environment, following regulatory requirements and Sun Country policies. The position is full-time, non-exempt with benefits starting day one.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A&P license is required for the role.
  • Acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision under stress and during challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair aircraft to Sun Country Airlines standards.
  • Complete maintenance paperwork accurately for all work performed.
  • Enter log items, NRTCs and task cards into TRAX.
  • Identify and report issues that could impact daily maintenance operations.
  • Communicate with Maintenance Station Supervisor during maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date OJT file.
  • Assist with training of newly hired personnel.
  • Keep maintenance facilities clean and organized.
  • Move and park aircraft as operations warrant.
  • Move ground equipment as needed for maintenance operations.
  • Perform all tasks safely, following regulatory requirements and internal policies.

This position is represented by the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association. The compensation schedule is based on the collective bargaining agreement.

Aircraft Maintenance Technician Overview

The primary responsibilities of the Aircraft Mechanic Outstation is ensuring the ongoing airworthiness of the Sun Country Airlines fleet of aircraft.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Accomplish housekeeping of maintenance facilities, as required.
  • Move and park aircraft as operations warrant.
  • Move and position ground equipment as needed for the maintenance operation.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A&P license required
  • Acceptable driving record required
  • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving skills
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision under stressful situations
  • Qualified candidates must pass a criminal history background check as well as a pre-employment drug test
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
Preferred Skills
  • 2 years line maintenance preferred
  • 2 years 737NG jet experience preferred
  • 737NG Familiarization Class preferred
  • 2 years experience in aircraft structural repair preferred
  • Valid US Passport preferred
Compensation

$38.75 USD per hour. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

Work Environment

This job operates in the maintenance hangar and ramp area. This role is routinely exposed to all weather elements.

Physical Demands

Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching. Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 75 pounds. Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
