Job summary

Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Indianapolis seeks an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor) to deliver FAA Part 147‑aligned training and provide hands‑on instruction to students preparing for FAA certification.

Qualifications

About The Role

As an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver FAA Part 147‑aligned aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands‑on instruction to students preparing for careers as aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs).

This role is ideal for experienced A&P mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and aviation maintenance professionals who want to combine technical expertise with mentorship and training while delivering hands‑on aviation maintenance instruction in classroom and active hangar environments.

Schedule Options
  • Option 1: Monday - Friday 7:15am-3:45pm
  • Option 2: Monday - Thursday 3:15pm - 11:45pm, Friday 10:30am - 7:00pm
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands‑on environment
  • Deliver FAA‑aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification
  • Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress
  • Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership
  • Help create a structured, engaging, and safety‑focused learning environmentMaintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experienceBackground as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT)
Licensure
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required
