Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Clearfield, UT, seeks an Aircraft Inspector Level 2 or Level 3 to join our on-site team. Provide manufacturing and mission assurance support for process inspection, part inspection, and related quality duties in accordance with government and company standards.

You will inspect aircraft components and sub-assemblies, monitor quality, read drawings, and communicate discrepancies across manufacturing and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years of related experience in quality assurance or inspection.
• Experience with measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, gages, and pin gauges.
• Experience in Aerospace manufacturing or related assemblies.
• Understanding of GD&T and reading drawings, BOMs, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct part and process inspections using gauges and measurement tools to meet customer requirements.
• Understand specifications, tolerances, and process requirements; apply to parts and processes.
• Record and document measurement results for traceability and document control.
• Read technical documents including drawings and work instructions.
• Identify discrepant parts and document in MRB format for engineering review.
• Communicate with Manufacturing and Mission Assurance about requirements and discrepancies.
• Learn and use various software programs in the facility; support audits and MRB follow-ups.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Aircraft Inspector Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position requires on-site support located in Clearfield, UT.

Role:

Provide Manufacturing and Mission Assurance support for process inspection, part inspection, and other related responsibilities relating to quality. Inspects aircraft components, parts, and sub-assemblies for operation and conformance to government and/or company standards and specifications. Inspects the adjustments, repairs, or modifications made to aircraft components, sub-assemblies and final product. Will monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. May communicate directly with customers to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct part and process inspections, using various gauges and measurement tools, to meet Customer requirements
• Understand relevant specifications, tolerances, and process requirements and apply them to parts and processes
• Record and document results of measurements for traceability and document control
• Read and understand technical documents to include drawings, work instructions, and technical instructions
• Identify and document discrepant parts and measurements for evaluation by engineering personnel in appropriate MRB format
• Basic understanding of the quality requirements listed in AS9100 and DCMA
• Communicate with multiple levels of Manufacturing and Mission Assurance employees to convey relevant information, requirements, and discrepancies
• Learn and understand the various software programs used in the facility
• Support Manufacturing and Engineering, as needed, to include RCCA, follow up tasks related to MRB, evaluation of repairs / rework, and internal audits
• General responsibilities include monitoring for unsafe practices, support inspection training, collecting / compiling documents for FAI's, FOD related activities, and other tasks as assigned by management
• Must maintain all NG expectations including timecard tracking, performance goals, and other requirements listed in the employee handbook

This position may be filled at either an Aircraft Inspector Level 2 or Aircraft Inspector Level 3

Basic Qualifications for Aircraft Inspector Level 2:

• High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of additional education and/or direct experience in a quality assurance or inspection role
• Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools
• Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies
• Understanding of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications, and related criteria
• Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead.
• Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time
• Must pass visual exam
• The ability to pass New Hire Physical/Respiratory Exam
• Must be willing to work any shift/schedule as determined by business needs
• Active DoD Secret clearance and must have the ability to obtain and maintain PAR within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
