Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with relevant QA/inspection experience
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, gages and inspection tools
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing and cable harnesses
  • GD&T understanding and ability to read plans, drawings, BOMs and specs
  • Physical ability to perform required tasks including lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to work around composites, epoxies and sealants
  • Must pass physical/vision exam and have clearance readiness for government work
  • US citizenship required for clearance and ability to obtain active government clearance

Responsibilities

  • Conduct part and process inspections using gages and measurement tools to meet customer requirements
  • Understand tolerances, specifications and process requirements for parts and processes
  • Record and document measurement results for traceability and MRB
  • Read technical documents including drawings, work instructions and technical instructions
  • Identify discrepant parts and document for engineering review in MRB format

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Inspector 2 / 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.

Responsibility

  • Conduct part and process inspections, using various gages and measurement tools, to meet Customer requirements
  • Understand relevant specifications, tolerances, and process requirements and apply them to parts and processes
  • Record and document results of measurements for traceability and document control
  • Read and understand technical documents to include drawings, work instructions, and technical instructions
  • Identify and document discrepant parts and measurements for evaluation by engineering personnel in appropriate MRB format
  • Basic understanding of the quality requirements listed in AS9100 and DCMA
  • Communicate with multiple levels of Manufacturing and Mission Assurance employees to convey relevant information, requirements, and discrepancies
  • Learn and understand the various software programs used in the facility
  • Support Manufacturing and Engineering, as needed, to include RCCA, follow up tasks related to MRB, evaluation of repairs / rework, and internal audits
  • General responsibilities include monitoring for unsafe practices, support inspection training, collecting / compiling documents for FAI’s, FOD related activities, and other tasks as assigned by management
  • Must maintain all NG expectations including timecard tracking, performance goals, and other requirements listed in the employee handbook

This position may be filled at either a level 2 or level 3


Basic Qualifications for a level 2:

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of additional education and/or direct experience in a quality assurance or inspection role
  • Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electrical assemblies (Cable Harnesses)
  • Understanding of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications, and related criteria
  • Must be able to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working overhead.
  • Must be able to work around composites, epoxies, and sealants for long periods of time.
  • The ability to pass New Hire Physical/visual Exam
  • Active Government Secret clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period, asdeterminedby the company to meet its business needs. US citizenshiprequiredfor clearance

  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)conformance to government and/or company standards and specifications. Inspects the adjustments, repairs, or modifications made to aircraft and spacecraft components, sub-assemblies and final product. Performs tests to verify compliance with quality procedures and specifications i.e. auditing ISO 9001/AS 9100.
