Job summary

Air Force Civilian Service at Altus AFB, Oklahoma, seeks an Aircraft Fuel Systems Technician to inspect, test, repair and modify fuel systems on KC‑135, C‑17 or KC‑46 aircraft. This full‑time federal role offers competitive pay, a $30,000 sign‑on bonus and relocation for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Citizenship required.
• Experience working with aircraft fuel tanks is mandatory.
• Requires an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or associated military experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be able to wear a respirator.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical orders, manufacturer specifications, schematics, engineering specification orders and REDI.
• Inspect aircraft fuel tanks and components for serviceability; repair and adjust to meet specs.
• Qualitatively evaluate internal seals and leak rates of components.
• Apply knowledge of fluid behavior and basic electrical/mechanical principles to repair and test fuel system components.
• Coordinate with hydraulics, electrical and environmental systems to understand inter‑relationships with fuel systems.
• Use hand‑powered tools and instruments (feeler gauges, micrometers, voltmeters, torque wrenches, oxygen analyzers).
• Operate and maintain valves, pumps, filters and nitrogen inert systems.
• Ensure all work meets safety regulations including respiratory protection and fitness requirements.

Aircraft Fuel Systems Technician (WG‑8268‑10)

Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks Aircraft Fuel Systems Technicians to join the “A‑team” at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma. In this role you will perform, coordinate testing, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, maintain and modify aircraft fuel systems and complex fuel components on associated KC‑135, C‑17, or KC‑46 aircraft.

This is a full‑time federal position that offers a rewarding and exciting career with exceptional pay and benefits. The hourly wage range is $35.11 – $40.96. Additional compensation includes a $30,000 sign‑on bonus and paid relocation for well‑qualified candidates.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Previous experience working in aircraft fuel tanks is mandatory.
• This is a drug‑testing position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
• Requires an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license (or associated military experience).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces.
• Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs with mechanical lifting devices or assistance.
• Shift work and rare emergency overtime may be required.
• Must be able to wear a respirator and pass an annual occupation‑specific occupational physical, and be able to enter/exit the smallest fuel‑tank access opening/door on assigned aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical orders, manufacturer specifications, schematics, engineering specification orders and Engineering Disposition Instructions (REDI).
• Inspect aircraft fuel tanks and associated parts for serviceability; analyze causes of failures and make necessary repairs and adjustments to meet specifications.
• Make qualitative evaluations of internal seals and leak rates of components.
• Apply knowledge of fluid behavior and basic electrical and mechanical principles to repair and test complex fuel system components, subsystems, and systems.
• Apply working knowledge of related trades such as hydraulics, electrical and environmental systems and understand their inter‑relationship with fuel systems.
• Use hand‑powered tools, fixtures and instruments such as feeler gauges, micrometers, voltmeters, torque wrenches, combustible gas indicators, oxygen analyzers and manometers.
• Operate and maintain regulating and vacuum relief valves, refuel, engine feed, cross‑feed, de‑fuel, manifold and vent valves, hydraulically and electrically driven boost and transfer pumps, fuel filters and environmental nitrogen inert systems.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, including respiratory protection and physical fitness requirements.
