Job summary

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking an Aircraft Field Service Engineer (FSE) for the F-35 program supporting the RNLAF. The role requires SME expertise in Avionics MS, with potential authority in VS/SLO, and capability to troubleshoot MS/VS/SLO and related systems.

The candidate will interface with the customer on-site, provide on-site training, and may deploy to various locations. Travel and DoD clearances may be required; excellent communication skills and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an F-35 Aircraft Field Support Engineer (FSE).
  • Combination of Avionics/MS/VS/LO-SLO experience accepted.
  • Experience with reading drawings/schematics.
  • Experience with Engineering tools (PDM, VAS, JEDI, JARVIS, CRE).
  • Experience with ALIS and PMA.

Responsibilities

Overview

Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics company as an Aircraft Field Service Engineer (FSE) on our Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) team! This position will support the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) F-35 Program at Leeuwarden Air Base, NL.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Nose to Tail (NTT) FSE, the preferred candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Avionics/Mission Systems (MS). It is desired that the individual also be an emerging authority in APG/Vehicle Systems (VS) and Supportable Low Observable (SLO)/Structures, with the skillset to accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of MS, VS, or SLO. This role provides a level of post-sales support and service to customer sites and remote sites at a high-tech level that cannot be rendered by the basic level of field hardware and systems software service. Employee is usually introduced to the customer site when the nature of equipment service required is beyond the skill level possessed by the basic field/customer service engineer. The candidate will act as part of the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment (AFS) technical interface to the RNLAF on-site customer (both Operations and Maintenance) in resolving issues arising from maintenance and modification activities for all matters dealing with the F-35 aircraft.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of difficulties experienced in the field.
  • Attend debriefings to aid in the rapid identification of emerging issues that require company intervention to avoid aircraft downtime.Document all unusual operation/maintenance problems to ensure the company is apprised of and can identify emerging failure trends.
  • Initiate Action Requests (ARs). Identify unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions to resolve. Provide on-site assistance to company and customer personnel initiating ARs.
  • Provide training to customer personnel. Must be able to work and interact with the maintainer as well as the professional engineers from other F-35 companies as a peer.
  • Some travel required; candidates must be willing and able to deploy with customer to possible hazardous duty locations. Long-term deployments and aircraft carrier deployments may be required. US Department of Defense (DoD) mandated vaccinations may be required.
  • Applicant must be able to work and communicate well both orally and in writing in a team environment, as this position involves significant and continued interface with customer personnel at all levels.
  • Provide support for the assigned site on aircraft ground maintenance and operational limitations. Direct on-site support as requested by customer, site manager, or program management. Lead and track multiple engineering efforts and provide periodic status to customer and program management.
  • Selected candidate must be willing and able to work other shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain F-35 Special Program Access. Must have an active Secret Security Clearance. Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that will require special access.

Basic Qualifications

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an F-35 Aircraft Field Support Engineer (FSE).
  • Will accept any combination of Avionics/Mission Systems (MS), Vehicle Systems / APG (VS) and/or Low Observable (LO/SLO).
  • Experience with drawing/schematics reading and interpretation.
  • Experience with Engineering tools, including but not limited to PDM, VAS, JEDI, JARVIS, and CRE.
  • Experience with Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) and Portable Maintenance Aid (PMA).
Desired Skills

The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates:

  • SLO / LO experience.
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of CATIA & System/Software Engineering Environment (S/SEE).
  • Airframe & Power plant (A&P) license.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Safety, Tool Control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Supply, Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), Training Management System (TMS), Quality, and Security programs.
  • Experience developing work schedules for employees.
  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule environment.
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $89,100.00 - $165,500.00

Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
