Job summary

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) seeks an Aircraft Fabrication Tech (sheetmetal) to support experimental, structural, and flammability testing. Responsibilities include assembling test fixtures, inspecting articles, and assisting test runs in a safety-conscious lab environment.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma/GED and 1–2+ years in basic sheetmetal. DOT/FAA program participation and a valid driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

  • 1–2+ years of basic sheetmetal experience preferred.
  • Experience with sheetmetal fabrication, inspection, and assembly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and maintain test lab fixtures and equipment.
  • Inspect and repair test articles and specimens.
  • Assist with test executions and data collection.
  • Follow safety rules and use protective equipment.
  • Adhere to SOPs and Lean initiatives in the lab.

Job description

Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH Global) is looking for an Aircraft Fabrication Tech (sheetmetal).
Pay Rate

$25.66 to $28.75 per hour (depending on experience, location, etc.)

Job Type

Full-time, Contract

Contract Duration

12 months (w/opportunity for extension)

Experience/Education
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Experience requirement ranges from one (1) year of basic sheetmetal experience to two (2) plus years of basic sheetmetal experience.
Unique Skills
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
  • Participation in a DOT/FAA drug and alcohol program may be required.
Purpose

Perform operation activities in support of experimental, structural, and flammability testing. Operation activities could utilize skillsets related to sheetmetal, instrumentation/electrical, fabrication, calibrations, hydraulic/pneumatics, large structural elements, test execution, etc.

Level I Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Utilizing various skills, assemble and maintain complex test lab fixture and equipment.
  • Assemble, inspect, and repair complex test articles and specimens.
  • Assist with test executions.
  • Comply with safety rules and procedures. Use protective equipment as required and be alert for unsafe conditions. Address unsafe conditions before putting people or property at risk.
  • Begin to learn the experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and WMs.
  • Learn various systems and capabilities used throughout the lab.
  • Communicate as required to receive and understand work assignments. Sometimes coordinating directly with test engineering.
  • Provide status to their direct supervisor of progress or help needed on assigned projects.
  • Ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Follow standard operating procedures when operating company and lab equipment.
  • Apply 6S and Lean Initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Implement and apply Lean/continuous improvement processes to all areas of responsibility.
  • Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment. Return items to designated storage area after use.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small, restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds and work any shift.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of computers and experience working with Microsoft Office suite.
Other Requirements
  • Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics.
  • Experience with basic hand tools.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
