A leading aerospace company in Layton, Utah is looking for a skilled technician to perform electrical system modifications on military aircraft. This role involves significant travel, requiring strong mechanical skills and attention to detail. Candidates should have 3+ years of relevant experience and a high school diploma. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the required task area.
  • US Military Aircraft Maintenance and/or wiring experience.
  • Knowledge of wiring diagrams/schematics and logic drawings.
  • Able to use various hand tools, crimping tools, soldering equipment, and machinery.
  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits.
  • Wire termination experience desired.
  • Knowledge of cable assembly procedures desired.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Capable of standing for long periods.
  • Frequent and extended duration travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-aircraft modifications and components installation/removal.
  • Maintain high ethical/professional standards during operations.
  • Document compliance with assigned tasks in wire harness manufacturing.
  • Follow engineering guidance, technical orders, and drawings.
  • Perform assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, and inspection measurement equipment.
  • Perform and inspect wire terminations, harness assembly and routing, and component installation/removal.
  • Produce and inspect assemblies that conform to customer specifications.
  • Assemble, test, and/or solder as required per standards.
  • Perform electrical, operational, and functional checkout of aircraft components and systems.
  • Document records of compliance with wire harness tasks.
  • Establish and maintain detailed inventory of property.
  • Train and assist other technicians on techniques and procedures.
  • Modify aircraft and equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as per processes.
  • Maintain safety and ethics; observe all safety rules; maintain a clean FOD-free area.
  • Work unsupervised at times; report status and results.

Job description

Overview

In this position you will be trained to perform electrical system modifications on military aircraft. The immediate need will be as a member of our T6 modification team, however other airframes and modifications may be added as the opportunities arise. The ideal person for this role would have outstanding work ethic, attention to detail, and integrity. They would be self‑motivated and once fully trained, be able to work with minimal supervision and oversight. They would also be familiar with basic mechanical skills, hand and power tools, electrical test, inspection, and measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • This position is 100% travel
  • Perform on‑aircraft modifications, Time‑Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO), component and harness installation/removal, operational checkouts, and prototype and trial vehicle installations (TVI)
  • Participate in test or project events as assigned by Project Manager
  • Follow engineering guidance, technical orders, and drawings
  • Perform moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, test equipment, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment (OJT)
  • Perform and inspect wire terminations, wire harness assembly, harness routing, and component installation/removal (OJT)
  • Produce and inspect assemblies that conform to customer product specifications (OJT)
  • Assemble, test, and/or solder as required per customer and/or industry standards (OJT)
  • Perform electrical, operational, and functional checkout of aircraft components and systems (OJT)
  • Document records identifying compliance with assigned tasks regarding wire harness manufacturing (OJT)
  • Establish, organize & maintain detailed inventory of government, customer and KIHOMAC property (OJT)
  • Train and assist other technicians on techniques and procedures (OJT)
  • Modify aircraft and equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as per predetermined processes (OJT)
  • Maintain high ethical/professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment at all times (OJT)
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintain a foreign object damage (FOD) free/clean work area
  • Work unsupervised at times
  • Report status and results
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education/Training (both required and desired):

  • High School diploma required
  • Associate’s Degree in management or technical/scientific discipline desired
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification desired

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the required task area required
  • US Military Aircraft Maintenance and/or wiring experience required
  • Knowledgeable on wiring diagrams/schematics, logic drawings, layouts, wire lists, and prints
  • Able to use various hand tools, crimping tools, soldering equipment, and machinery
  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail required
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits required
  • Wire Termination experience desired
  • Knowledge of cable assembly procedures desired
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively required
  • Basic knowledge or understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 desired
  • Capable of standing for long periods of time
  • Able to work cross functionally in other areas as needed
  • Frequent and extended duration travel required

Security:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking, able to bend, stretch, work with hands, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines
  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and respirator as needed
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
