Aircraft Composite Tech

Pay Rate: $21.21 to $33.81 per hour, depending on experience, location, etc.

Job Type: Full‑time, Contract

Contract Duration: 12 months (with opportunity for extension)

Experience / Education

  • Experience ranging from one (1) year to five (5) years of related composite manufacturing processes

Purpose

Perform one or more of the following composite part manufacturing functions: lay‑up, cutting, bagging, autoclave, trimming, and/or repair, in a production environment.

Level I Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Manufacture composite aircraft parts to meet manufacturing specifications, in a team‑oriented work environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the requirements of the Manufacturing Competencies at the appropriate level in the Employee Effectiveness Review.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations.
  • Check all work and ensure a defect‑free assembly before inspection.
  • Maintain and use all logs and records, e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, DR/DI, etc.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area, support the company FOD and 5S programs, and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Support Lean activities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Read and interpret 6" scale.
Level II Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Manufacture a variety of composite aircraft parts to meet manufacturing specifications, in a team‑oriented work environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the requirements of the Manufacturing Competencies at the appropriate level in the Employee Effectiveness Review.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations.
  • Must be skilled in the use of special tools and equipment, including precision measuring devices such as 6" scale, 1" micrometer, 6" dial caliper.
  • Check all work and ensure a defect‑free assembly before inspection.
  • Maintain and use all logs and records, e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, DR/DI, etc.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area, support the company FOD and 5S programs, and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Support Lean activities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials.

  • Provide specialized technical assistance and interact with team members to resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Manufacture a wide variety of composite aircraft parts to meet manufacturing specifications, in a team‑oriented work environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the requirements of the Manufacturing Competencies at the appropriate level in the Employee Effectiveness Review.
  • Proficient at reading work orders, blueprints, specifications, lofts, sketches and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations.
  • Must be skilled in the use of special tools and equipment, including precision measuring devices such as 6" scale, 1" micrometer, 6" dial caliper.
  • Check all work and ensure a defect‑free assembly before inspection.
  • Maintain and use all logs and records, e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, DR/DI, etc.

Level IV (Senior) Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Function as a team member and assist in providing technical direction to other team members. Possess the ability to organize and perform new job tasks with a working knowledge of other parts and part numbers, establish priorities, and assist in the development of work schedules. Must be proficient at directing and monitoring the work of team members and willing to perform team‑leader functions in their absence.
  • In a team‑oriented work environment, manufacture a wide variety of composite aircraft parts to meet manufacturing specifications and perform close‑tolerance work.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability and possess strong communication skills.
  • Plan, organize, execute, and obtain objectives with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet the requirements of the manufacturing competencies at the appropriate level in the Employee Effectiveness Review.
  • Proficient at reading work orders, blueprints, aircraft specifications, lofts, sketches and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations.
  • Must be proficient in the use of special tools and equipment, including precision measuring devices such as 6" scale, 1" micrometer, 6" dial caliper.

  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures and specifications, plant safety, tooling, and quality requirements, and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes.

  • Must possess leadership skills and the ability to communicate and impart knowledge to others.
