Job summary

Evans Consulting seeks an Air Traffic Training Lead SME to guide training for a major airspace modernization project and ensure training materials meet FAA standards. You will lead development, coordinate with subject matter experts, and align content with operational requirements.

This largely remote role requires on-site presence at DOT and FAA headquarters in Washington, D.C., to collaborate with the FAA Academy, facilities, and stakeholders while delivering compliant training programs.

Qualifications

• Prior Air Traffic Control training experience in an En Route & Oceanic and/or Terminal operational environment.
• Senior level air traffic control system experience assisting FAA with coordinating activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead training subgroup efforts to identify, develop, and coordinate air traffic training requirements for program initiatives.
• Develop training plans, curricula, and materials for new systems, procedures, or operational changes affecting air traffic controllers.
• Coordinate with FAA Academy, field facilities, and SMEs to align training content with operational requirements.
• Facilitate subgroup meetings, capture action items, decisions, and status updates for program leadership.
• Review and validate training materials for technical accuracy and alignment with FAA standards.
• Support training needs assessments and gap analyses for air traffic initiatives.
• Track subgroup milestones and deliverables, escalate risks and issues as needed.
• Prepare status reports and briefing materials summarizing progress.

Evans is hiring an Air Traffic Training Lead SME to lead training subgroup for a complex and significant airspace modernization initiative. You will lead the development and coordination of air traffic training materials and strategies, working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure training products meet FAA operational and certification standards.

Location details: This role is mostly remote with occasional on-site requirements at the Department of Transportation Headquarters in Washington D.C. and the FAA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Requirements

• Prior Air Traffic Control training experience in an En Route & Oceanic and/or Terminal operational environment.
• 20 years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in any field counts for 5 years. An Associate of Arts/Science with 15 years of Air Traffic Control (ATC) active, full performance level experience, or 20 years of Air Traffic Control (ATC) active, full performance level experience, in lieu of degree, is required. 10 Years equivalent ATC experience in the U.S. Military or international control environment is acceptable. Associate’s degree with 10 years of Air Traffic Control (ATC) active, full performance level experience, or 15 years of Air Traffic Control (ATC) active, full performance level experience is required, in lieu of degree. Five years equivalent ATC experience in the U.S. Military or international control environment is acceptable.
• Air traffic control technical and operational work experience as a domestic or oceanic air traffic controller in an En Route & Oceanic or Terminal operational environment.
• Experience as a senior level air traffic control system specialist assisting the FAA in coordinating activities with air traffic requirements and operations personnel.
• Acquisition and program management experience for FAA program offices or similar organizations.
• Prior experience consulting within a government contracting environment, preferred

Compensation

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $155,000to $180,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Evans’s total compensation package for employees.
