Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in air quality permitting, compliance, or environmental consulting.
  • Working knowledge of air quality regulations and permitting processes.
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

RETTEW is seeking an Air Quality Specialist to support environmental permitting, compliance, and air quality assessments for a wide range of public and private sector clients. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys problem-solving, regulatory analysis, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver practical environmental solutions.

Position Summary / What You’ll Do

The Air Quality Specialist supports air permitting and compliance efforts by preparing technical analyses, applications, and reports related to state and federal air quality regulations. This role plays a key part in helping clients navigate regulatory requirements while supporting RETTEW’s environmental practice with reliable, defensible technical work.

Responsibilities / Day-to-Day
  • Prepare air quality permit applications, compliance reports, and emissions inventories
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local air quality regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, PA DEP requirements)

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in air quality permitting, compliance, or environmental consulting
  • Working knowledge of air quality regulations and permitting processes
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Preferred

  • Experience with PA DEP air quality programs
  • Familiarity with air modeling software (e.g., AERMOD)
  • Consulting experience supporting industrial or municipal clients
  • Professional certification (or progress toward certification)
