Job summary

Vanderbilt University is seeking an Air Quality Program Manager within the EHSS division to lead regulatory compliance, manage Title V and emissions programs, and partner with sustainability teams across the Nashville campuses. The role requires strong communication, project leadership, and training delivery to support a large university community.

The position emphasizes collaboration with regulators, researchers, and facilities teams, delivering evidence-based improvements and KPI dashboards

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in related field preferred; a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with a master’s degree; 8 years with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Certifications such as CHMM, PE, CSP, CIH or asbestos-related credentials are preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in environmental compliance, air quality, asbestos management, hazardous waste, and related regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to develop training materials and reports.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft and Adobe products; data management and analytics experience is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to implement environmental health and safety goals and initiatives.
  • Assist with air quality compliance for campus operations and satellite campuses.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and manage permit obligations for air emissions, refrigerants, and associated facilities.
  • Lead projects grounded in best practices, feasibility, and evidence-based research.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to track EHSS performance and progress.
  • Provide technical guidance on Title V, asbestos, and GHG compliance to researchers and staff.
  • Deliver training materials and outreach programs; maintain policies and procedures.
