Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is hiring an Air Detention Officer to join the security team. You will support charter aircraft operations, ensuring safety and security for noncitizens and crew, while adhering to procedures and checklists.

This role requires handling sensitive situations with diligence and professionalism. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements, be able to work long shifts and travel if needed. The position is full-time and benefits are available, with potential overtime and weekend

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen residing in the U.S. with ability to obtain visas and inoculations for travel as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a corrections/detention officer or law enforcement or security guard within the last 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload noncitizen onto/off aircraft (incl. those needing assistance) and escort to restrooms.
• Apply and remove restraints as needed.
• Identify proper documentation for passengers.
• Search aircraft for contraband and assist in post-flight cleanup.
• Load/unload property and assist with perimeter security.
• Maintain checklists and checkpoints during shift.
• Ensure embarkation/debarkation security at Ports of Call.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary: The Air Detention Officer serves as a part of a security crew providing charter aircraft services and is responsible for ensuring the general security and safety of all noncitizen and crew when on-board the aircraft. The security of all areas as required by the appropriate procedures and checklists must be always maintained.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• The Air Detention Officer loads and unloads noncitizen onto and off the aircraft (including those handicapped and/or requiring special assistance); searches noncitizen for contraband; feeds the noncitizen during flight; and escorts the noncitizen to the restroom.
• Applies restraints and removes them as applicable.
• Identifies proper documentation.
• Searches the aircraft for contraband and assists in post flight cabin cleanup.
• Loads and unloads property onto and off the aircraft.
• Assists with perimeter security as requested.
• Maintains checklists and checkpoints throughout the assigned shift.
• The Air Detention Officer takes charge of post by securing and protecting personnel and property until properly relieved.
• Reports all violations of orders.
• Sounds the alarm in case of disorder or emergency.
• Reports unusual events that threaten the security of the aircraft or endangers life or property.
• The Air Detention Officer takes reasonable counteraction to save life and property or lessen danger to include intervening in physical altercations and de-escalating conflicts.
• Provides for embarkation and debarkation security as required at each Port of Call.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Must be a United States citizen residing in the U.S. and able to obtain visas and inoculations required to permit departure from and entry into the US and all scheduled destinations.
• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Must posses a valid United States passport.
• A minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience as a corrections/detention officer within the United States; OR one (1) year of full-time law enforcement experience while employed by a United States federal, state, city or municipality law enforcement entity, or the United States Military; OR one (1) year full-time employment as a security guard with a state issued guard card within the last six (6) months.
• Must be certified as a Security Officer in the state where the work is to be performed and maintain the certification.
• Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs.
• Must be able to write detailed written reports and forms.
• Must report to work exactly on time as scheduled.
• Must possess the physical stamina to work long irregular shifts, often extending beyond 8 to 12 hours due to flight delays, weather conditions or processing backlogs.
• Bilingual in Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work overtime frequently.
• Ability to travel extended periods of time with frequent overnight stays.
• Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.
• Ability to successfully complete all requiring training and certifications.
• Ability to pass a Company and Federal Client background investigation.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
