This vacancy is for a WS - 5306-10,Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN FACILITIES ENGINEERING DIVISION in BIRMINGHAM, Alabama.
You will serve as a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Supervisor and be responsible for ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC), and related mechanical systems supporting TRACEN Birmingham facilities through directing the campus HVAC maintenance workforce and coordinating limited related facility-maintenance work necessary to sustain training, residential, administrative, athletic, and other installation-support facilities.

Typical work assignments include: Sets daily priorities from work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, system condition, occupant impacts, and command direction; adjusts crews and resources as conditions change Directs diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and functional testing of air handlers, rooftop and split systems, heat pumps, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, hydronic and ventilation equipment, refrigeration, motors, and associated building automation and direct digital controls, as present on campus Oversees incidental facility maintenance associated with restoring or protecting building systems, including minor carpentry, plumbing, door and ceiling repairs, and similar work within the crew's qualifications Ensures HVAC system reliability through preventive maintenance, work-order management, equipment-condition assessments, and timely response to system failures while enforcing safety, environmental, occupational health, hazardous-energy-control, and refrigerant-handling requirements
