Overview

Summary Do you want to make Siri and Apple products smarter for our users? Our Answers, Knowledge & Information (AKI) team is redefining how hundreds of millions of people use their devices to get information. We are an Applied ML team pushing the limits on real-time augmented information retrieval and generation, information safety and search technologies, while also responsible for a few user-facing production services. We are part of a wider effort to power information across a variety of Apple products – including: Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, Lookup, and more.

Responsibilities

As a member of our fast-paced group, you’ll have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape upcoming products from Apple. You will be using and improving upon the latest advancements in machine learning and software engineering to understand user queries and intents, retrieve and rank documents, and generate helpful answers. You will also work on horizontal areas such as data generation, evaluation, and safety. The team includes a diversity of backgrounds from applied machine learning engineers with a focus on ML and LLM to experienced distributed systems engineers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with using: PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX for training and deploying deep learning models
• Proficient in at least two programming languages such as: Go, Swift, Python, C/C++, or Java
• 3+ years of industry related experience, working in collaborative environments
• Bachelors in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Data Science or related field or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Analyzing search ranking and relevance requirements issues and opportunities
• Building machine-learned models for search relevance ranking, query understanding, and questioning
• Understanding product requirements then translating them into modeling tasks and engineering tasks
• Masters or PhD in the area of Computer Science or equivalent, or a related field

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
