Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $4,100 to $5,595 per month

AIG Teacher (10 month) role supports and implements AIG programming for the district. This includes K-3 nurturing, enrichment and acceleration, screening and identification services, curriculum development, professional development, and best practices for continuous improvement across K‑12.

Qualifications
  • Hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License.
  • Must be endorsed for AIG; if not, must take and pass the Praxis within 10 months of beginning the position.
  • Have 5 or more years of successful K‑12 teaching experience, including experience teaching AIG students.
  • Master’s degree in Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of academically or intellectually gifted instructional strategies, best practices, and current trends in elementary, middle and high school.
  • Experience in planning and delivering professional development.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Passion for gifted students and gifted education.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Experience engaging, building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, students, staff and community entities.
  • Ability to use sensitivity and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle time‑sensitive issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitors and implements AIG services in accordance with the AIG plan and district strategic direction.
  • Designs and implements activities related to AIG, including K‑3 nurturing, LEEP program, digital badging, enrichment and acceleration programming for grades 4‑12 in the assigned area.
  • Implements the screening, referral and identification process associated with the AIG program.
  • Utilizes current screening methods and tools outlined in the AIG plan to ensure underserved students are screened and served.
  • Regularly assists instructional personnel with AIG related services, including modeling lessons, co‑teaching, and implementation of best practices.
  • Provides K‑3 nurturing services weekly in elementary schools.
  • Collects and analyzes data relevant to AIG programming.
  • Maintains accurate record‑keeping and reporting.
  • Actively participates in regular AIG teacher PLCs.
  • Reviews educational research related to improving student achievement and promotes research‑based best practices for AIG.
  • Provides professional development for AIG classroom teachers.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Programs, AIG Coordinator, school principals and teachers to design and implement best instructional practices associated with AIG.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position is paid monthly on a 10‑month teacher scale.
