Applitrack is seeking a Paraprofessional 1:1 for the 7-12 Alternative Program to assist in classrooms and support students with disabilities. You will participate in instructional activities, help implement IEP accommodations, and maintain appropriate records.

Responsibilities include supervising students in various settings, aiding with health needs as trained, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires Ohio Educational Aide Permit and a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience assisting in classrooms with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to follow IEP accommodations and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Review and familiarize with each student’s IEP and materials.
  • Assist in instruction and provide IEP accommodations to students.
  • Correct assignments, maintain records, and monitor progress.
  • Supervise students across classrooms, lunchroom, and on-field activities.
  • Assist with personal care needs and safe lifting when required.

Job description

Job Title:Paraprofessional 1:1, 7 - 12 Alternative Program

Reports To:Principal/Program Supervisor

FLSA Status:non-exempt

Summary:Performs any combination of the following instructional tasks in the classroom to assist teaching staff by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned as directed by the teacher, assists in the instruction of students with disabilities by:

  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with student's IEP.
  • Preparing and/or organizing instructional materials and lessons.
  • Instructingchildthe student using appropriate methods and materials,including providing IEP accommodations.
  • Correcting student assignments, tests, and homework.
  • Maintaining appropriate records.
  • Assist in supervising student with disability in any instructional setting (regular classroom, special education classroom, lunchroom, playground, recreational/physical education activities, field tripsand hallways) during the school day.
  • Assist in supervising student with disability in behavioral management of child using the appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Assist in supervising student with disability during the arrival and departure of students.
  • With proper training, assist student with personal health needs and non-medical procedures.
  • Position and/or perform one-person or two-person lift of a child when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all work responsibilities.
  • Set a professional image through the use of interpersonal skills to include: courteous manners; proper work attire; a positive attitude; and, a cooperative demeanor.
  • Respond and interact with children and adults in a positive, thoughtful, and appropriate manner.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience & Certification:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training. Must obtain and maintain an Ohio Department of Educationand Workforce Educational Aide Permit.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Peripheral vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must comply with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39 – Criminal Records Check.

Drug Testing:

Must pass a 10 panel drug screen at time of hire and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
