Job summary

Integrated Medical Systems, Inc. (IMS) is seeking an AI Systems Engineer to design, build, and deploy intelligent AI applications that connect with enterprise data and business systems.

This role focuses on building secure, scalable AI agents that can understand context, access information, use tools, and take action. You’ll work with Model Context Protocol (MCP), LLM APIs, and API integrations to enable practical, business-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
• Asynchronous programming and async/await patterns.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of JSON-RPC 2.0 and message-based communication.
• Hands-on experience with MCP servers and frameworks like FastMCP.
• Experience with MCP tools, resources, and prompts.
• Strong understanding of LLM APIs and tool/function calling.
• Experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or similar services.
• Experience with vector databases and AI-powered retrieval.
• Ability to build search/retrieval tools with structured context.
• Understanding of document identifiers, metadata, and citations.
• Secure authentication and authorization for enterprise data.
• Design scoped access between AI agents and systems.
• Experience developing agentic AI applications or multi-step workflows.
• Experience with MCP frameworks like FastMCP.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy MCP servers connecting AI to databases and apps.
• Build interfaces for AI agents to discover and interact with tools and workflows.
• Develop MCP tools, resources, and prompts for repeatable workflows.
• Evaluate LLMs and design workflows across multiple models/services.
• Implement tool calling and function calling for external systems.
• Build reliable REST API and third-party system integrations.
• Configure function schemas for AI agents to call external services.
• Transform responses into structured formats for LLMs.
• Design persistent context/state management and real-time communication.
• Configure vector stores for AI-powered search and retrieval.
• Develop fetch tools to retrieve documents and IDs; ensure proper citations.
• Test, debug, monitor, and improve MCP servers and AI applications.
