Job summary

CACI is seeking an AI Systems Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The role blends data engineering, software infrastructure, and MLOps to scale and deploy AI systems. Expect on-site 12-week engagement beginning May, with formal documentation and strict security requirements.

You will work on CI/CD pipelines, RAG workflows, data pipelines, and observability tools while coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure system reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearance.
• Working knowledge of AI and creating agentic workflows.
• Some knowledge of cybersecurity (ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity).
• Familiarity with SysML, UML, or similar modeling languages to represent system structures and behaviors.
• Ability to elicit, analyze, document, and manage system requirements using structured methodologies.
• Understanding of system decomposition, interface definition, and trade-off analysis for complex systems.
• Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle phases, risk management, and technical project coordination.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and scale AI models with Docker for containerization and CI/CD pipelines to cloud infra.
• Build production-grade RAG pipelines using LLM orchestration frameworks for retrieval augmented generation.
• Monitor performance benchmarks to optimize inference latency and cost.
• Engineer robust data pipelines with automated ETL for unstructured data preprocessing.
• Implement AI observability tooling for monitoring, tracing, and metrics.
• Document data provenance, configuration, and model version tracking to inform decisions.
