Job summary

Wachter, Inc. in Lenexa, KS, seeks an AI-enabled software engineer to collaborate with business stakeholders, plan AI-assisted development, and deliver in‑house apps, automations, and data pipelines.

You will own solutions end-to-end, integrate with Salesforce, ServiceNow, NetSuite, Dayforce, and Microsoft 365, and extend Claude capabilities with MCP servers and connectors.

Qualifications

• Real hands-on experience with Claude, especially Claude Code, and something you have built with it.
• Solid debugging instincts. You can trace issues through logs, data, and integrations.
• Genuinely strong communication skills for discovery with non-technical stakeholders and explaining tradeoffs.
• Working understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and webhooks.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub, issues, code review, and structured development practices.
• Ability to own work end to end with minimal direction and manage multiple efforts.
• Sound data handling, security, and confidentiality instincts.
• Occasional after-hours work may be required during deployments and cutovers.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly with business stakeholders to identify high-value problems, understand current-state processes, and define what a good solution looks like.
• Plan and direct AI-assisted development of custom in-house solutions: internal web and mobile applications, workflow automations, agents, scripts, reporting, and data pipelines.
• Review and test what gets built and own the result once it ships.
• Build and maintain integrations with our core SaaS platforms, including Salesforce, ServiceNow, NetSuite, Dayforce, and Microsoft 365, using REST APIs, webhooks, and MCP servers.
• Extend what Claude can do inside Wachter: MCP servers and connectors, skills, subagents, and the project context and rules that make these tools effective for everyone else.
• Take solutions all the way through testing, documentation, deployment, user onboarding, and post-launch support.
  Build and support AI capabilities for other employees, including internal tooling, enablement content, and hands‑on coaching for departmental power users.
• Operate inside our AI governance framework: approved tools, acceptable use, data classification, and identity and access standards.
• Track and report on adoption, time saved, and business impact so we know what's working and what isn't.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Real hands‑on experience with Claude, especially Claude Code, and something you have built with it. Personal projects count. Experience with comparable agentic coding tools works too if you can show the work.
• Solid debugging instincts. When something breaks, you can trace it through logs, data, and integration points.
• Genuinely strong communication skills. You can run a discovery conversation with a non‑technical stakeholder, push back on a bad idea respectfully, and explain a technical tradeoff in plain language.
• Working understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and webhooks.
• Familiarity with source control and structured development practices (Git/GitHub, issues, code review).
  Good judgment about when a process should be automated, when it should be fixed first, and when it should be left alone.
• Ability to own work end to end with minimal direction, and to manage several efforts at once.
• Sound instincts around data handling, security, and confidentiality.
• Occasional after‑hours work may be required during deployments and cutovers.

• Bonus points for:
  A background in software development, systems integration, business analysis, or solutions engineering.
• The ability to read code and judge whether it's correct, safe, and maintainable. Writing it from scratch matters less than knowing good from bad.
• Comfort across a mixed stack: TypeScript/JavaScript, React, Node, Python, C#, PostgreSQL, and T‑SQL. You don't need all of them, but you should pick up an unfamiliar one quickly.
• Experience building MCP servers, custom connectors, agent workflows, or Claude skills.
• Microsoft 365 development against the Microsoft Graph API, including app registrations, permission scopes, and Entra ID authentication.
• Experience with enterprise SaaS platforms from an administration, configuration, functional or integration standpoint, particularly Salesforce, ServiceNow, NetSuite, or Dayforce.
• Familiarity with Docker, Next.js, Node.js, or self-hosted application deployment.
• Construction, field services, or other operationally complex industry experience.
