Job summary

ICON is seeking an AI Software Engineer to design and ship AI-powered tools, workflows, and autonomous agents that accelerate ICON's construction technology platform. This role is available for remote work with periodic travel to ICON HQ in Austin, TX as projects require.

You will own the full development lifecycle of AI features, work with LLMs, and implement tool-use systems and MCP integrations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend or full-stack focus.
  • Experience shipping production-grade AI features using LLMs and agentic frameworks.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
  • Strong prompt engineering, context management and LLM reasoning skills.
  • Experience with tool-use, function calling and agent orchestration.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build agentic AI systems that automate multi-step workflows across ICON's software platform.
  • Develop LLM-powered features using state-of-the-art foundation models and APIs.
  • Architect and implement multi-agent pipelines and MCP integrations.
  • Build robust RAG systems including document ingestion and embeddings pipelines.
  • Collaborate with software and domain teams to ship AI automation.
  • Own the full development lifecycle of AI features from prototyping to iteration.
  • Mentor others on agentic AI best practices.
  • Stay at the leading edge of agentic AI and drive production adoption.
