Job summary

BNY in Dallas is seeking a hands-on Application Developer III to build an AI-powered loans platform. You will design an AI Agent to extract terms from complex credit agreements and support automated loan processes. Use Java, Python, React, Kafka, and Snowflake across a microservices stack with Docker/Kubernetes.

This 12-month contract is mostly onsite with some remote work. Responsibilities include AI-assisted development, REST APIs, event-driven design, and end-to-end ownership from prototyping

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Application Developer III to help build a strategic AI-powered loans platform within a leading financial services organization. This role will focus heavily on developing an AI Agent capable of extracting and understanding key terms from complex credit agreements and using that information to support automated loan processes. The platform combines AI/LLM technologies, event-driven services, APIs, and blockchain-based transaction processing to modernize how complex loan and structured credit products are onboarded and serviced. The ideal candidate can quickly translate ideas into production-ready code and has experience using AI-assisted development tools and coding agents to accelerate software delivery. This is a 12-month contract position is based in Dallas, TX and requires 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.

Key Responsibilities

• AI Agent Development: Design and develop AI-powered solutions that can process complex credit agreements, extract financial terms, and understand the underlying business processes and requirements.
• AI‑Assisted Software Development: Leverage LLMs and AI coding agents such as Codex or Claude throughout the software development lifecycle to rapidly prototype, develop, test, and deliver high-quality production code.
• Full-Stack Engineering: Build and maintain applications across the technology stack, including Java and Python backend services and React-based frontend applications.
• LLM & AI Integration: Integrate LLM capabilities into production applications and contribute to AI orchestration, prompt engineering, document processing, and AI Agent development.
• API & Event-Driven Architecture: Design and implement REST APIs and event-driven services using technologies such as Kafka, with a focus on scalable and resilient distributed systems.
• End-to-End Ownership: Take ownership of technical components from discovery and rapid prototyping through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
• Data & Platform Integration: Work with technologies including Snowflake and distributed data systems to support AI-powered applications and financial workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product, engineering, operations, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a demonstrated track record of delivering production applications.
• Strong hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development, including the use of AI coding agents.
• Experience developing applications that integrate LLMs and/or AI Agents into software solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, and React.
• Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Experience working with Snowflake or comparable data platforms.
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, distributed systems, architecture, and problem solving.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within financial services, banking, capital markets, or lending/loans.
• Experience working with credit agreements, loan servicing, or structured credit products.
• Experience with blockchain, smart contracts, or on-chain transaction systems.
• Experience with RAG architectures, prompt engineering, AI/ML integrations, or AI-powered document processing.
• Experience with containerized applications and technologies such as Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience working on greenfield platforms or early-stage technology initiatives.
