Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an AI Security Standards Architect to define and lead the AI security strategy across the full lifecycle. You will work with engineering, risk and business teams to embed secure AI practices, perform threat modeling, and ensure alignment with regulatory and enterprise risk frameworks.

You will monitor AI security trends, communicate risk to leadership, and drive governance across data, models, and integrations. Strong executive presence is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cybersecurity with 2+ years in AI/ML security assessments.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML lifecycle risks, governance, and controls.
• Experience evaluating security controls in cloud/PaaS environments.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead AI security strategy and standards across data, models, APIs, and integrations.
• Identify and mitigate AI-specific risks like model abuse, prompt injection, data leakage.
• Partner with engineering, risk, and business teams to operationalize secure AI practices.
• Document traceability between controls, risks and governance frameworks.
• Monitor security trends and inform leadership on risk posture.

AI Security Standards Architect

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and lead the AI security strategy, including standards, to secure AI/ML systems across their lifecycle (data, model, APIs, and integrations).
• Identify and mitigate AI-specific risks (e.g., model abuse, prompt injection, data leakage, model theft), embedding security and governance into AI development, deployment, and third-party usage.
• Partner with engineering, risk, and business teams to operationalize secure AI practices, including threat modeling, control validation, and continuous monitoring aligned to regulatory and enterprise risk frameworks.
• Define clear security requirements ensuring the secure use of AI. This includes documenting traceability between control requirements, risks, and applicable governance frameworks
• Monitors information security trends internal and external to the bank and keeps leadership informed

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years focused on cyber assessment of Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning systems
• A deep understanding of Generative AI/Large Language Models and assessment frameworks including MITRE ATLAS, OWASP Top 10 for LLM and GenAI, and NIST AI RMF
• Strong understanding of frameworks, policies, and controls needed to govern AI use cases, including working knowledge of AI/ML models, data dependencies, model lifecycle, and common AI risks
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity threats, controls and technologies, with a deep understanding/experience with software developer experiences to bridge the gap between the theoretical and practical application
• Experience evaluating cyber security controls and providing guidance for platform or distributed computing platforms (Cloud, PaaS)
• Exceptional executive presentation and communication skills
• Excellent influencing and problem resolution skills
• Ability to bring multiple stakeholders together, including senior business and technology leaders, and cut to the heart of issues to reach consensus
• Ability to decompose complex issues and drive timely decisions, knowing when to engage others for additional input, and when to act independently
• Ability to design, architect, analyze, support, and secure cloud-based workloads
• Bias for action and a commitment to build partnerships in a dynamic risk & threat driven environment

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$141,700.00 - $202,700.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
